Song-a-Day: Plastic Plates featuring Simon Lord “Things I Didn’t Know I Loved”

Plastic Plates is the recording moniker of Australian-born LA-based super handsome DJ, Felix Bloxson; one of the best up-n-coming producers out there right now. He’s done remixes for some of my faves, including Sia, but came onto my map specifically with his mix of I Blame Coco (Sting’s daughter)’s single, “Turn Your Back On Love.” Since then, I’ve been more or less obsessed. BUT, today’s Song-a-Day is his best work to date.

Featuring vocals from Simon Lord of Simian Mobile Disco (who has worked with Beth Ditto among others), “Things I Didn’t Know I Loved” is one of those perfect mid tempo dance tracks that straddles the fence that separates lounge from house from disco. With a hook that won’t quit, if you’re a fan of dance music and don’t end up hitting repeat on this jam, there’s something seriously wrong with you.

Released by the always reliable and amazing Kitsune, this is one of the best tracks I’ve heard in a while. Blame Josh, one of the boys at Occupy The Disco, for your impending addiction.
