Today’s jam on Song-a-Day comes from dirty popsters, Ssion (pronounced like “shun” or “shin” – depending on your English) and their very danceable, Psy-chic.
Ssion’s PERFECT album, Bent, was just re-released on up-n-coming (or already there) NYC-based indie label, Dovecote Records. In my mind, Dovecote can do no wrong and I was pretty stoked to hear that they’d snatched up Cody Critcheloe and his amigos.
I’ve had the album for over a year now and it’s been getting some serious mileage of late as I try to hold onto summer with late night trips around town. Bent is a night time album, for sure, that brings to mind debauchery, sex, partying – you get the point. It’s the kind of record that the Scissor Sisters *might* make, if they were on an indie label.
Originally, I was going to feature Ssion’s cover of Hole’s “Credit In The Straight World,” but have instead decided to go with “Psy-chic,” which I CANNOT STOP PLAYING.
