The Hotness is your daily look at 3 new songs that are amazing, essential, and are sure to make you horny. Ok, the last part isn’t necessarily true. But if you don’t like at least one of these three songs, you need to check 1) Your testosterone levels 2) Your estrogen levels 3) Your hearing.
Let Em Riot is the recording moniker of Orange County, CA-based solo artist, Alan Oakes. He’s made several appearences here on FH mostly because I love his music and can’t understand for the life of me why he’s currently unsigned. Let Em Riot is one of the most versatile songwriters I’ve heard in the last few years; gliding with ease through many different genres, indlucing chillwave, indie rock, pop and more. As I’ve said many a time, in my book the mark of a true songwriting master comes in the form of how many different types of music they’re able to pull off – and Let Em Riot nails every single type of music he goes for. He’s currently working on a new album, and I’ve been lucky enough to be given a shot at the world premiere of one of the first completed songs. The song is called Lovers and Losers and it features some sad lyrics, but beautiful production; recalling 80s classics such as Boys Of Summer. Have a listen below and get into Let Em Riot.
*Let Em Riot’s new album will be out soon. I’ll keep you posted for sure.

Fiorious is a New Yorker based in Italy who has one of the most beautiful male voices to come out in recent memory. Like Let Em Riot, I’ve given Fiorious a decent amount of exposure here on FH; again, because I love his music. His voice is extremely versatile and his range is similar in style (not sound) to Jamiroquai’s Jay Kay. Most of the music Fiorious has released thus far has been somewhat subdued; however, he’s about to unleash his debut album and it features a few songs which bring in the disco beats. Coupled with that soulful, almost gospel voice of his, you’re sure to have your hands in the air and shakin your booty. The best of the bunch is also the lead single off the album, called 7 Steps. Fiorious is about the release the music video for 7 Steps in the coming weeks; but in the meantime you can listen to the song below.
*Fiorious’s new album will be out soon. Again, I’ll keep you posted.

Emeli Sandé is a Scottish solo artist who has been dubbed the dreaded ‘next big thing’ by the UK press. Maybe I’m bias because I’m half British, but I tend to think that more often than not the UK press tends to get it right when they predict chart success. Look for Emeli to continue that trend when her hotly anticipated debut album, Our Version Of Events, is released in mid-Feb. She’s already got a top 5 single under her belt (2010’s Heaven) and she’s about to release a new single, called Next To Me. I saw Emeli perform the song on Graham Norton’s show last week – in front of Madonna, no less – and she nailed it. The song is a hit waiting to happen and will remind you in style of Corrinne Bailey-Rae, among others. Totally addicting and thoroughly infectious, I’m sure I’ll be sick of Next To Me in a couple of weeks; but for now, I’m obsessed. Have a listen below.
