just heard that Governor Chris Christie has declared a ‘state of emergency’ in New Jersey. Yes, apparently McDonald’s is out of fries.

Hey everyone! Welcome to The Fredhead Weekend 10!
I swear, the melodrama among the media here in the US is hilarious. In case you haven’t heard, Hurricane Irene is apparently going to destroy the entire east coast of the US this weekend! Oh no! Please..
Everyone needs to chill the F-to the-U-to the-C-to the-K out! Personally, I’m just excited to see which nutbag will be the first to somehow relate the existence of gays to the creation of the hurricane. Perhaps world renowned Gay Demon Exorcist, Cindy Jacobs?
Ok, that’s all I got for ya this week! Let’s move on to the music.
This week my Weekend 10 is all about covers. My general opinion on covers is that one needs to proceed with caution. Far too many bands and artists attempt to interpret sacred songs and end up embarrassing themselves instead. (Avril Lavigne “Imagine”, anyone?)
But, when done right, covers can be a whole lot of fun; so this week I’ve picked some of my favorites — both new AND old. The order of the mix is supposed to represent a week beginning with a Saturday night getting ready to go out n party…and ending on a rainy evening 10 days later. (I’m such a dork, but it makes sense to me..so roll with it, k?)
If you’re interested in either downloading or purchasing the songs on the list, simply click on the name of the song and you will be magically transported to a place where you can do just that. (Unfortunately, some of the songs are either not available for purchase..or they haven’t been released here in the US. If that’s the case, you’ll have to do some digging..Stupid record labels! Sorry, I tried!)
As for this weekend… If you happen to live somewhere along Hurricane Irene’s path, please be safe; wear a condom.
I’ll see you cats next week!
3. Van Go Lion “Shattered Dreams”
4. Sahara Hotnights “In Private”
loves that the woman in front of him in line has an ENTIRE shopping cart full of Huggies and two bottles of margarita mix. Apparently she’s planning on taking the mother of all shits as she watches the roof blow off at her Cinco de Mayo party. Smart. #HurricaneIrene
The Hotness is your daily look at 3 new songs that are amazing, essential, and are sure to make you horny. Ok, the last part isn’t necessarily true. But if you don’t like at least one of these three songs, you need to check 1) Your testosterone levels 2) Your estrogen levels 3) Your hearing.
Hi Fashion is a Los Angeles-based pop duo comprised of Jenn DM and Rick Gradone. I’m pretty sure these two would be my best friends if I were ever to move to LA because their sense of humor rivals mine on the goofy scale. Like many, I was introduced to their music via actor Drew Droege’s fucking brilliant comedy series in which he spoofs Chloe Sevigny (who grew up in my hometown of Darien, CT..shhhh). What I love the most about Hi Fashion (I feel gayer than gay saying that, btw) is that they remind me not to take life so seriously, while providing me with plenty of eargasms along the way. Between songs like Amazing, I’m Not Madonna, and current single, Sonic Boom, they bring back fond memories of dancing around my room, hairbrush in hand, and bobbing my head (bobbing my head?) while listening to bands such as Le Tigre, Junior Senior and even Deee-Lite. Watch “Sonic Boom” below.
*Hi Fashion’s debut EP “SPRECHEN SIE HI FASHION?” is out now and self-released.

Nomi Madness is a Los Angeles-based solo artist from New York City. His music is influenced by everyone from Boy George to Bette Midler to Prince to George Michael and more. His talent is big and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by just how much I genuinely enjoy listening to his debut EP “Fairy Tales”. Every track toes the line between being quality and going overboard, but Nomi’s smooth vocals always seem to reel it in juuuust in time. His story is interesting as well; he moved to LA after being branded as ‘too Broadway’ by American Idol (umm..have they met Adam Lambert?) and landed a role as a dancer in that Christina Aguilera/Cher film “Burlesque”. Like Boy George, Nomi also seems to have an affinity for make-up and testing the boundaries of gender with his image; which initially had me a little put off simply because I love his voice so much and I’d hate to see him limit his musical appeal just because of how he looks. But, after thinking about it for a little while, I realized that everybody’s got their own version of a personal journey and self-discovery, and this is his. He’s a very attractive guy with a great voice and I hope he goes places. Take a look at Nomi’s video for his positively addicting single “Red Wine Girl” below; and pick up his debut EP, Fairy Tails, which features production from David Kahne (New Order, Paul McCartney, kd Lang, Cher).

Flight Facilities are where you take a poop on a plane..ooops..I mean… Flight Facilities are yet another amazing Australian dance music duo; who came onto my map last year with the release of their AH-MAZING single “Crave You” featuring Giselle. These guys know the dancefloor inside and out; front and back; side to side and diagonally..you follow? Their latest gem is a disco-y dance eargasm called “Foreign Language” and it features the breezy vocals of someone named ‘Jess’. The video for the song is appropriately set in the 1970s and on a rollerskating rink. Check it out below and add this song to your latest summer mix. Sick to the max.
