Holy Ghost are another amazing dance duo signed to DFA Records that make their home in NYC. Anyone that’s a fan of dance music should give these guys a spin. They’ve been around for a few years and are finally about to release their self-titled debut album; and it is one of the sickest albums you’ll hear all year. Need proof? Let’s just say that it’s the only album that has been able to make me look forward to running, in my life. If I end up looking cute in a bathing suit this summer, I have them to thank. Monarchy are finally about to release their long-delayed debut album next month. To give you an idea just how long we’ve been waiting for their album to drop: I named it my #23 Album of 2010. Umm, yea. These guys are great and are another great example of DJs that know how to make me move. Their new single is actually brand new and it’s called I Won’t Let Go. It’s hot as fuck, so check it out below.

Garçon Garçon are a sexy Australian duo that wouldn’t look out of place hanging around the East Village in NYC with me and my buddies. They’re currently hard at work on their debut EP and have just dropped the first single from that release, entitled Stay In Touch, and it is definitely the hotness. Just about every song these guys put out is filled with deep lyrics, lots of synths, and hooks that won’t quit. I’ve been obsessed with these guys after my buddy DJ Rubot turned me onto them. (More on him later). Take a listen to Stay In Touch and if you like it, buy it!

The Sound of Arrows are yet another amazing pop music duo from Sweden. They’ve been on my map for a couple of years now, releasing a few remixes and some kickass singles, so I’m pretty stoked that they’re finally releasing an album in April. The fellow at one of my favorite websites, Pop Justice, seems to have an orgasm at the mere mention of the band’s name, and with good reason; The Sound of Arrows have it all. Their music is feel-good, daydream pop with plenty of blips and beats to keep the listener smiling for the duration of every song.

The group recently signed a major label deal with Geffen, and the first offering after that announcement comes in the form of their new single, Nova. The thing I like about Nova, and just about every other song released by The Sound of Arrows, is the band’s cheeky ability to push the boundaries of cheesiness without ever crossing the line. Somehow they pull back just in time and by the 3^rd and 4^th listen you’re feeling great and singing along.

The music video for Nova fits the song perfectly, but only just narrowly escapes being compared to the crown jewel of chessetastic videos,  Ace of Base’s ‘Beautiful Life.’ (It doesn’t hurt that both members of The Sound of Arrows are cute, too).

Anyway, take a look at the video for Nova and keep an eye out for the band’s debut album, hitting stores sometime this spring on Geffen Records.

Houses are a boyfriend/girlfriend duo based in Chicago, with a pretty cool bio to go along with some pretty rad music. Instead of trying to interpret their bio myself, I’m just going to copy it for all of you to read:

“I got laid off from my job at the end of last year and decided I needed a change. My girlfriend put in her two weeks and we moved out to a little cabin in Papaikou, Hawaii. It’s a pretty remote place outside of Hilo (i.e no plumbing/electricity/gas). We worked for meals during the day cultivating indigenous microorganisms and learning the basics of sustainable living. We drank showered and cooked with rain water. It was a beautifully simple experience. In our downtime, she would paint and I would record. We’d have to light candles in an effort to save solar power to keep my computer running. We inspired each other a lot out there, and I think it shows on the album. She sings on a lot of the tracks on All Night. The music comes from a place of love and ease. The video for Endless Spring was shot there in our spare time, and the music was sketched out loosely over the course of a few months.  We just kind of melted into one person. We were able to keep our heads above water for a few months before we both went broke and moved back to Chicago last month. I put together all the arrangements and field recordings over the last few weeks, and that became All Night. “

AlunaGeorge are a London-based duo consisting of vocalist, Aluna Francis, and George Reid. They remind me of a poppier version of The xx with their minimalistic-electro sound. I’m really digging the single, Analyser, and you can hear it below.

Shiny Toy Guns have been around for a few years now and I was a HUGE fan of their debut album, We Are Pilots. The band parted ways with singer Cara Faye Charnow and their sound really suffered as a result on their 2^nd album, Seasons Of Poison. Thankfully, Cara Faye is back on board and their new single The Sun is vintage STG. Cara Faye and Chad Petree’s dueling vocals are as good as ever and the music is back to being a more atmospheric version of Garbage (aka one of my favorite bands of all-time). Rush Limbaugh is today’s Daily Dickhead for his outrageous claim that the Democratic Party is quasi-responsible for the death of over 60% of African American babies, due to their support of abortion.

Listen, I know that by giving Rush Limbaugh a little publicity all I’m doing is giving him exactly what he wants. He wants people talking about him because all he’s concerned about is making money as a result of the absurd things he says. As a media whore he rivals Paris Hilton, Charlie Sheen, and Heidi Montag. However none of that takes away from the fact that he’s a racist asshole and needs to continue to be called out on the bullshit that he spews because, unfortunately, there are people that believe what he says.

Racism is rampant in the Republican Party and the election of President Obama has fueled that racism even more.  As if the Birthers aren’t offensive enough, we also have elected officials like Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Steve King (R-IA), and many more, adding fuel to the fire; which then opens the doors for media whores, like Rush Limbaugh, to jump right in with their incendiary commentary.

In this clip, he jokingly repeats one of the grosses comments that has ever been said on radio (at least to my knowledge), when he says ‘Planned Parenthood, doing the job the Klan could never finish? Is that what you’re thinking?’

Listen to the audio below, and spread the word. I will not rest until the entire country is aware of the racial undertones being promoted within the Republican Party. This is not a political party that holds in it the best interests of all people, regardless of race, sexual orientation, religion, or creed.
