The Hotness is your daily look at 3 new songs that are amazing, essential, and are sure to make you horny. Ok, the last part isn’t necessarily true. But if you don’t like at least one of these three songs, you need to check 1) Your testosterone levels 2) Your estrogen levels 3) Your hearing.
Art vs Science are yet another 3-piece dance punk band from Australia. They toured the UK last year in support of both La Roux and Groove Armada. I’m new to the band, but have been all over their sound, which reminds me a bit of fellow Aussies, The Presets. They just released their debut album, The Experiment, on Kobalt Records and it’s the perfect album to pump-you-the-fuck-up during one of those days where you keep nodding off at your desk. Check out my favorite track (and lead single off The Experiment) ‘Finally See Our Way’.
RüFüS are a dance trio based in (you guessed it!) Australia, that describe their sound as ‘dancefolkpopindielectronica.’ They’ve just released their debut EP entitled RüFüS EP overseas and are poised for a big 2011. My favorite song on the EP is entitled We Left and it’s another perfect song for my ‘daydream collection’. I’m not sure if their EP is available yet here in the US, but keep an eye open for these guys as I think we’ll be hearing a lot from them this year.
Tony Christie must live in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. This guy has been churning out sugary-sweet, cheesetastic filth for the better part of 40 years in the UK. His new single features one of my absolute favorite artists of all-time, Roisin Murphy, and barely passes the vomit test. In fact the song has turned into a bit of a guilty pleasure..However, if it were anyone other than Roisin, I’d have tossed the song in the bin looooooong ago. 7 Hills can be found on Tony Christie’s new album, ‘Now Is The Time!’ (Please note: The exclamation point is part of the album’s title and should, in no way, be viewed as a sign of my excitement towards the release of the new Tony Christie album).
